15 years. But only the document. The validity of the category is lifelong. For extension/changing no tests required!!
- How long is the validity of my foreign driver's licence in Germany?

6 month. But you can extend this period, if you stay less than 1 year in Germany.
- How can I exchange my foreign driver's licence in a german driving licence?

Submit an application to the driving licence authorities or to your town hall
- Which documents are needed for the application?

You need: Eye-test, first aid course, biometric passport photo, formal translation of your foreign driving licence, your original foreign driving licence , your passport and residence permit.
- What kind of tests for the german driver's licence are required?

For exchanging or new drivinl licence in each case a theoretical and practical test. Some licences could be changed without a test. See stale-list under rules and regulations.
- Which languages for the theoretical test are available?

All official languages are possible.
German, English, Spanish, Italian, Turkish, Greek, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Croatian, Portuguese, French, High Arabic. - What kind of vehicles may I drive with the Category B?

Motor vehicles (except those of Categories AM, A1, A2 and A)
with a maximum authorized mass not exceeding 3,500 kg which are constructed and designed for the carriage of no more than 8 passengers in addition to the driver, with or without a trailer with a maximum authorized mass not exceeding 750 kg or with a maximum authorized mass exceeding 750 kg if the maximum authorized mass of the combination does not exceed 3,500 kg.
Category B entitles driving three-wheeled vehicles in Germany.
In case the vehicle has more than 15 kw, the licence-owner must be 21 years old. - What kind of german driver's licences are available?

- What is the price of the german driver's licence?

The costs are regionally different and are dependant on your personal skills. For exchanging the costs are more favourable. Ask for the quotes in your favoured driving school. A fixed preis is generally not possible.
- When can I make the tests?

The tests are possible after approval of the application by the authorities.
- How many numbers of driving classes are required?

For exchanging: No mimimum numers are required.
For new driving licence: Basic-classes no minimum number, Specific-classes 12.

Only for a new driving licence are 14 lessons required.
- May I make the driving test on an automatic-car?

Yes. But then, you only may drive automatic-cars.

You can start with training from the age of 16½. With reaching the age of 17, you can drive vehicles Category B with an accompaniying, named person. At the age of 18, you change your test certification within 3 months in a real German Driving Licence and you may drive alone.
Requirements for the Applicant:
Minimum Age: 16½ years
Training and tests for Category B
Theoretical test 3 month, practical test 1 month before reaching the minimum age
Driving after the test only with the named accompaniying persons.
IMPORTANT: Your certification is only valid in Germany and Austria

Up to the age of 30 years
Owner German Driving Licence Category B or an equivalent Driving Licence of EU/EWR or Switzerland minimum 5 years
